If you’ve been keeping up with the CVAAS Events Calendar (you have, right?) then you already know that tomorrow is our first planning committee for our next Heretic’s Barbecue.
This will be our third year hosting this event. The second year was more successful than the first – and we hope to repeat that this year.
Each year we have a Barbecue “theme”. The first year was UFO’s – where we built, launched and photographed our own flying saucers. We had a dedicated team of children vying to make the best spaceship, and several enthusiastic people to launch them into flight. We even managed to fool some members of the Free Republic forum with one photoshopped UFO.
Our theme for the second year was “Miracles”. And so we did miracles! We changed water into wine, and topped it off by filling a pool and walking on water! (Well, it was a non-newtonian fluid when we finished mixing in a little science!) How is that for a bullet point on your resume? “Walks on water! Photo evidence upon request.”
Tomorrow’s planning committee will be to discuss this year’s theme, figure out advertising and pricing, and start planning the basic menu. The food each year has been excellent, and we want to keep up the tradition.
Remember, the Heretic’s Barbecue is also when new officers are elected. An agenda for this business will also be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting.
The first planning committee will be meeting at the Starbucks located at Shaw and Highway 41. We will meet at 9am, and the first meeting should last about an hour. During this first meeting we will also decide when to meet again, and how often we should meet for planning.
Again, we’ll be at:
Starbucks
Shaw & 41 (See map)
9am
If you want to help us make this year’s Barbecue bigger and better than the last, then please stop by and give us a hand.
