CVAAS Movie Night – "Creation" – Feb 21st!

Home  /  News  /  Current Page

February is a busy month for Sundays.  The first Sunday was Superbowl – and the Saints won.  The second Sunday is St. Valentine’s day.

Is there a trend here?

If you would like to help us break that trend, CVAAS is going all out for our next movie night.  Yes, it will still be held at the same place and time, but this time we will be showing you the movie “Creation”.

This is the movie that had a very difficult time finding an American distributor.  It has been having an impossible time coming to Fresno.

Why is that?  Could it be due to the overtly religious nature of Fresno?

Whatever the reason, CVAAS Vice President David has met the challenge for us and purchased a copy of the movie “Creation” for our next movie night.

It’s not quite “Banned in Fresno”… “Neglected in Fresno” or “Ignored in Fresno” might be a better description.

I’ve already spoken of this movie in an earlier entry that said:

Although the world premier took place on September 10, 2009 in Toronto, it had a difficult time finding a distributor in the United States due to prevailing American opinions about evolution.   The Anaheim Evangelical Examiner informs us that the distributor that finally purchased the North American rights to Creation is Newmarket Films.  Newmarket Films is also widely known for marketing of the movie, “The Passion of the Christ.”

The movie is based on a biography of Darwin called, “Annie’s Box” – written by his great-great-grandson Randal Keynes.  The title of the biography comes from the Keynes’ discovery of a box of keepsakes that belonged to Darwin’s daughter Anne.
