My muscles were sore, I was exhausted, and just a little hoarse. I slept in on Labor Day just so I could recover from the 2nd Annual Heretic’s Barbecue.
It was a lot of fun!
We did perform the miracle of making bad wine out of good water. AND we walked on water! About half the attendees performed this little trick, and now have an excellent bullet point to add to their resumes!
It was an great day filled with good food, good company, a little CVAAS business, and a whole hoard of ground squirrels. The highlights included walking on water, and our auction. We not only auctioned books, but also a telescope, fossils, buttons, music and other items.
There was a surprise in the election of officers, when past Vice President Richard Moore declined nomination. The newly elected officers are:
- President – Mark Boyd
- Vice President – David Costa
- Treasurer – Chuck Krugman
- Secretary – Tegmine Schuster
- Member-at-large – Justin Stolle

Special thanks to those people who were instrumental in putting this event together. First, and foremost, thanks to David Costa for heading the Barbecue Committee and for cooking the tri tip, chicken, rice pilaf, and for bringing an almost entire kitchen out to the pavilion.
Thanks also go to Desiree Costa for two excellent vegetarian dishes. (For those of you who didn’t know, the lasagna was vegetarian. Seriously! Hey, I’m a dedicated carnivore and I loved it too!)
Also thanks to Shane Fisher for his help with the vegetarian dishes, and with bringing other components of the kitchen.
And thanks to all of you who helped set up and tear down, for bringing order out of chaos.
Lastly, thank you to all of the attendees. You are what made this event fun and memorable. I hope you attend again when we do this all over again next year, for the 3rd annual Heretic’s BBQ!
